English is globally a connective language and nationally a professional language that connects diversified phenomena. Literature is something that sculpt one’s soul from the experience of Texts and that is what the Department is striving for. The Department of English has been teaching language, literatures of nations and cultural studies. 

The Department was initiated in the year 2006. The Department is furnished with 2 Assistant Professors, 4 Guest Faculty and 7 Hourly-Basis Faculty. The Department offers both B.A. and M.A. Courses in English Literature. 175 Students are pursuing their UG and PG Graduation Programmes. The Department conducts numerous academic activities and literary speeches by eminent professors through “Lit-Wit” Literary Association. The Department of English conducts Bridge-Course for the I Year Students of all the Departments to train them the basics of English to fulfill the lacking in their language skills.  The Department conducts special classes for slow learners to train the students to complete their failed subjects. The Department conducts special coaching class for the Students of MA English in NET/SET Examinations for lectureship to achieve their goals in their future career.

The Department has been recognized as “Research Department” to pursue Doctoral Research in both Full-Time and Part-Time streams. Due to the Covid-19 lockdown period, the Department has initiated online teaching programmes to meet the students through Whatsapp, Google Meet, Zoom and so on. The Department has launched Pegasus YouTube Literary Channel and a website called Pegasus Google Site to provide students lectures and study materials.
