Government Arts and Science College – Perambalur, formerly known as Bharathidasan University Constituent College, was established in the Year 2006 with the support of the Government of Tamil Nadu (GOMs 365, Higher Education Department (G1), dt. 02-11-2006) in Perambalur to provide quality education for the students from rural background.

Classes including Laboratories were temporarily conducted at two rented buildings other than a government building in the perambalur town. The construction for the college had already been started in the village Kurumbalur at the cost of rupees 289 lakhs. The disbursement of building construction was supported from the financial repositories of the Government of Tamil Nadu and Member of the Parliament Fund for Rural Developments.
